Why do I need a Limited Company?

Due to certain tax legislation, Recruitment Agencies are not able to pay a self-employed worker direct with out deducting PAYE. If you work via a Limited Company the Agency can pay the Limited Company without making deductions.

Does it cost anything to join Subco?

No. We charge a fee for processing your timesheet. If you don’t work there is no charge.

What happens when I am between contracts or I take a break from contracting?

If you are between contracts we will keep your details on file until you inform us otherwise.

What happens if I decide to leave?

If you decide to leave please contact Subco and we will suspend your registration.

Is there a charge if I decided to leave?

There is no cost to leave and you can re-join at anytime.

How often will I get paid?

Subco make payments daily, we pay you the same day we receive funds from your agency via chaps transfer system, which will clear the same day.

Will I still get paid if the agency or client hasn’t paid you?

No, Subco only make payment once we receive payment from your agency or client.

How can I be sure that the payments I receive are correct?

Subco post a detailed remittance showing the gross amount less any deductions.

What do I do if I have a query regarding the payment and/or remittance Advise/statement I have received?

If you have a query regarding your remittance we recommend that you contact us on 0800 032 0670 so we can advise you accordingly.

Do Subco hold back any of my money?

No, all money received from your agency is paid out on receipt of funds minus our fee.

Can I claim holiday pay?

No. you are operating as a self-employed subcontractor and as such are not entitled to holiday pay. However, because you are not employed directly by your client or agency, they may increase your rate to compensate that you are a self-employed subcontractor. You would need to discuss this with your agent or client.

Do I get the full amount of my expenses paid in addition to my income?

If you have negotiated with your agency to cover the cost of your expenses Subco will add this amount to the invoice raised to the agency. However, if your client or agency has reimbursed you certain expenses these cannot be then offset against your income at the end of the tax year. Only expenses that you have paid for yourself and not had reimbursement for can be offset against your income.

Who do I send my timesheets and expenses claims to?

Please send a copy of your timesheet to your agency and to Subco at the end of each week.

Am I required to submit receipts for my expenses?

No. You are working Self-employed and will be required to keep your own receipts to submit to the (HMRC) Inland Revenue on completion of your tax return.

Do you issue me with a P45 or P60?

No. Subco are not your employer, when you are self-employed you are not issued these documents.

Do I need to inform you if I finish my contract?

Yes. If you wish to use our services with another agency/client we will need to send them our Limited Company details or alternatively if you wish to leave Subco we will need to suspend you from our system.
